An Observation

This isn't a story about a specific date, rather it is about a trend...at least in my dating life.

We live in a marvelous age: The telephones (mobile and landline), internet and postal service keep us in constant contact. With scanners and digital cameras we can send pictures, graphics, video (live and pre-recorded) and documents around the globe in moments. There are so many wonderful things that can be done in this wonderful age of technology.

For example, my parents in New Mexico keep up with changes in my apartment, hairstyle and friend's children without having to travel. Dan in Italy can know instantly where Bear-Bear has been on vacation. I can teleconference with China if the need arises. Grandparents can watch their grandchildren grow and not feel so separated by distance. Soldiers can be in such close contact with family while they are in the field that it is more like an extended (and very dangerous) business trip than a deployment. Friends and lovers separated by oceans can wish each other sweet dreams as clearly as if they were in the same room...

So why do men send pictures of their private parts? I know, I know, "Because they can." But what makes them think we want to see these things unsolicited? I will agree that it is one thing if you are in a relationship of whatever kind and either by request or as a surprise (of whatever kind) nude photos are exchanged. But to just send pictures of your penis to someone you've never met? Why? How do you know it won't end up on some website...or in a blog (don't worry, I wouldn't do that to you)?

I made trading cards of the interesting characters I've met since I started dating again...maybe I should start an x-rated set...Lord knows I'm getting quite the collection.
